I engaged with Garling and Co to assist me for my weekly payment dispute with the insurance. I was upset with Natasha, as she didn't prepare me to the worse outcome or told me about the kind of negotiation in the hearing. I assumed that as a Lawyer she should have an experience with the process or the way to solve the case. Even though I asked her what should I do or what would be happened in the hearing a week before but she didn't mentioned anything, and told me not do anything. But in the hearing she and the Barrister only gave me less than 5 minutes to make decision and pushed me to accept the disappointed outcome and what she said in the hearing totally different with what she said earlier. Work cover fund is GOVT’S money but insurer think that it is from their 14th generation. So only they can have it. Not only that, people from the work, IME doctor from insurer, back to work coordinator from work, Rehab provider from any side push the worker as hard as possible that the worker (doesn’t matter how the workers mental or psychical condition) either go back to his pre injury duty or leave the job. More over on that very bumpy any difficult journey some of them only treat the worker as a MONEY MAKING MECHINE .in some point worker feels like, no rooms to breath. There are certain times in someones life where they have been backed into a corner drained mentally and physically and left to literally flounder around in pointless limbo with only the lingering sour aftertaste of the pernicious motivations of the conspiring culprit or culprits floating around in ones mind. Being disabled through a workplace injury, and then having my much needed weekly payments and medical expenses stopped, in contentious and abnormal circumstances, with all possible options of a constitutive and viable pathway to resolution with the workplace insurer CGU by myself extinguished, this is where i invariably found myself in September 2017. I was in a bad place at the time and under a lot of duress because of the severity of the injury and the underhanded tactics used by the Insurance company at the time. I really needed someone to understand my plight and help me with ongoing dealings with the Insurer. I found Matthew Garling's website online and called his office that day. Have had a rollercoaster ride with Garling and Co over the several years we have been battling the system that injured workers are faced with. The wheels of progress are slow within this system. However Garling and co have always stood by me. Calls are returned and matters are always followed up in a timely manner.
I had an overall good experience with Garling and Co. I was the victim of a major motorvehicle accident in April 2021. There were a few complications in my case including me having to move overseas for 2 years temporarily during the progression of my claim and original lawyer from Garling that handled my case leaving the firm. The move overseas resulted in the insurer cutting off my income replacement, which lasted for 9 months, which as you can imagine created a major financial strain on the family On both these occasions, Garling worked to get a good result. They fought in front of the NSW Panel, and got a reported decision that states that all Permanent Residents and Citizens of Australia have the right to be paid income replacement even when overseas, during an accident claim under CTP cover. They also worked very hard in the face of a typically uncooperative and obstructive insurer to progress my claim over the last (almost 4 years) and the replacement lawyer Kerry Burns has done amazing work, with care, empathy and professionalism. I've had a good experience with them!

I reached out to this firm to pursue a case in medical negligence. I was forwarded to speak with Joelle via Lynn who barely had any questions about my enquiry. She told me she would contact me the following day after she had spoken with Joelle but I did not receive a call. I sent through an email directed to Joelle outlining my case but also received no response. I then emailed again 3 weeks later and received a phone call from Lynn that was very quick and abrupt. She told me Joelle only works on cases involving brain injury and gave me no further guidance. I tried to ask for clarity around what type of law my case falls under and she suggested finding a personal injury lawyer. As this is a personal injury firm, I asked her if someone else could take on my case and she said they don’t work on civil matters. I then asked her if that meant I needed to find a civil lawyer and she responded with ‘yeah’ in a very rude tone. I tried to ask if that specialisation existed because I’m not really across the different types of law and she proceeded to say bye. The information she provided was inconsistent and brief and it was a very odd and rude conversation. I don’t believe Lynn is representative of the firm but she’s been the main point of contact and I have not had a positive experience each time that I’ve spoken to her. I highly suggest some further professional development on client intake and communication, particularly with vulnerable people as she works in medical negligence. I also think it’s important to empower people by referring elsewhere or providing general guidance in situations where you cannot take their case. I hope this feedback is helpful and prevents future clients from having a similar experience. Edit: I think it’s important for me to state that the timeline and version of events outlined by the firm is not accurate. Noting this is becoming a “he said/she said situation”, my review is actually about how Lynn dealt with this whole situation and her lack of guidance and good customer service. I also want to note that, as a law firm that specialises in medical negligence and deals with a “wide range of cases”, you should know that the HCCC is not a law firm and cannot pursue compensation for people. In theory, all medical negligence cases can be referred to the HCCC because it’s a complaints body for registered/unregistered health practitioners. I was not reaching out to a law firm to make a complaint and i was not simply unhappy with the advice given. There was no advice - that’s the problem. I want to emphasise that i had to keep asking Lynn questions and chase her because she barely wanted to communicate. I hope this is not a reflection of the firm but it’s concerning to read the timeline and version of events in the firm’s response. 48uki0
wouldn't even listen to me over the phone. didn't let finish one sentence. no personal skills at all. dont bother asking them for help if its not an easy case for them.
