- Failure to properly perform a breast ultrasound that results in a lump not being identified or the characteristics of a lump not being adequately visualised;
- Failure to accurately report on the findings of investigations of the breasts
- Failure to refer for further investigations or biopsy of a lump with suspicious or indeterminate features
- Failure to properly perform a biopsy
- Failure of the breast surgeon to remove the lump or obtain clear margins
- Failure to monitor after treatment
2. Can you be wrongly diagnosed with breast cancer?
It is possible for a benign lump to be wrongly diagnosed as malignant, but this is not common as a biopsy is often required to confirm diagnosis.
