Public Liability – Dog Attack (NSW)
The Incident
We were instructed by a 46-year-old father of two following a serious dog attack in a public park in New South Wales. The dog was not restrained and attacked our client without warning while he was lawfully using the public space.
Emergency services attended and he was transported to hospital for urgent treatment.
Serious Injury and Medical Treatment
Our client sustained deep lacerations, muscle and tendon damage, nerve injury, and significant psychological trauma. He required emergency surgery, ongoing wound care, and specialist treatment.
The Long Road to Recovery
Recovery involved extensive physical rehabilitation and treatment for psychological injury. Permanent scarring and ongoing symptoms remain.
The injuries affected our client’s ability to work and participate in family life, placing emotional and financial strain on his household.
Why Specialist Legal Advice Was Required
Public liability claims require careful analysis of duty of care, breach, and causation, particularly where serious injury and long-term consequences arise.
Legal Support and Advocacy
The matter was led by Matthew Garling, Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law. We identified the responsible party, obtained witness and council evidence, and engaged medical experts to assess the long-term impact of the injuries. Garling & Co specialises in serious injury and negligence claims.
Securing a Life-Changing Outcome
We secured compensation recognising pain and suffering, loss of income, future care and treatment costs.
We’ll help you get back to what matters most.
Our Commitment
At Garling & Co, we are committed to supporting clients through the impact of serious injury. We provide the expert legal assistance our clients need to reset, reclaim and rebuild their lives.
